Lightweight Outdoor and Expedition Backpack

Helikon-Tex Summit Backpack

A lightweight 42-litre rolltop backpack designed for mountain hiking, climbing, camping and extended outdoor routes. 42 L Expedition Capacity Multi-day outdoor load carriage
1.179 KG Lightweight Design Approximately 2.60 lb
55 × 31 × 20 Dimensions Measurements in centimetres
CORDURA® Durable Construction 100% nylon main fabric
DWR Water-Repellent Finish Reduces moisture and dirt absorption

Key Product Strengths

The Summit removes unnecessary bulk while retaining the capacity, equipment access and load support required for demanding outdoor routes.

High Capacity, Low Weight

A 42-litre interior provides multi-day equipment capacity while the pack weighs only approximately 1.18 kg when empty.

Adjustable Rolltop Closure

The rolltop allows the pack height and volume to be adapted to the amount of clothing, food and equipment being carried.

Two Interior Access Points

Access equipment through the upper rolltop or use the vertical front zipper to reach lower items without unloading the complete pack.

External Beavertail

The elastic front panel carries a helmet, harness, wet rain shell, insulated jacket or other equipment requiring rapid access.

Designed for Long Routes and Technical Terrain

The Summit is part of the Helikon-Tex Outback line and was developed primarily for trekking, climbing and outdoor use rather than as a conventional tactical assault pack.

Its tall, narrow profile keeps the load close to the body and reduces unnecessary lateral bulk when moving along mountain trails, through forests or across confined terrain.

Cordura® fabric protects the contents against abrasion and repeated ground contact. A DWR treatment helps limit water and dirt absorption while simplifying routine cleaning.

Streamlined Outdoor Profile Reduces lateral bulk and supports controlled movement through narrow or technical terrain.
Reliable Components YKK® zippers and Woojin hardware are selected for repeated use under load and changing temperatures.
Expandable Configuration Rolltop adjustment, compression straps and MOLLE/PALS attachment points allow the pack to adapt to different equipment loads.
Hydration Compatible A dedicated internal compartment supports a compatible hydration bladder during movement.

Fast Access and Flexible Organization

The combination of rolltop loading and front zipper access reduces the need to unpack the complete backpack when retrieving equipment.

01

Rolltop Main Opening

Provides broad access from above while allowing the pack volume to be compressed or expanded around the current load.

02

Vertical Front Zipper

A secondary zipper beneath the beavertail provides direct access to equipment positioned lower inside the main compartment.

03

Top Accessory Pocket

A pocket positioned beneath the rolltop keeps smaller frequently used items separated from the main equipment load.

04

Two Elastic Side Pockets

Accommodate compatible water bottles, a thermos, compact clothing or other equipment that must remain accessible while moving.

05

Two Hip-Belt Pockets

Zippered mesh pockets provide immediate access to snacks, a phone, navigation tools or other essential small items.

06

Elastic Front Beavertail

Carries bulky or wet equipment externally without occupying the protected main compartment.

Stable and Ventilated Carrying System

Adjustable quick-release shoulder straps allow the pack to be fitted around the wearer’s body and the clothing layers used during the activity.

Corrugated foam on the back panel creates channels for airflow. The spacer-mesh covering improves ventilation and reduces direct contact between the backpack and the wearer’s back.

An adjustable sternum strap stabilizes the shoulder harness, while the detachable profiled hip belt transfers part of the load toward the hips when carrying heavier equipment.

  • Adjustable profiled shoulder straps
  • Quick-release shoulder hardware
  • Corrugated foam back panel
  • Breathable spacer-mesh covering
  • Adjustable sternum strap
  • Detachable profiled hip belt
  • Two zippered hip-belt pockets
  • Designed for active movement
Load Stabilization Shoulder, sternum and waist adjustments help control movement when walking, climbing or travelling over uneven terrain.
Ventilation Foam channels and spacer mesh promote airflow during high-output activity and warm-weather use.
Removable Hip Belt The waist support can be removed when carrying a lighter load or when a reduced exterior profile is preferred.

External Load Expansion

The Summit combines lightweight outdoor construction with selected modular features for carrying equipment that does not fit inside the main compartment.

MOLLE/PALS Webbing Supports compatible utility, medical or equipment pouches on the sides of the backpack.
Elastic Beavertail Carries a helmet, harness, jacket or wet outer layer outside the main compartment.
Compression Straps Stabilize the load and reduce the backpack’s exterior volume when it is not completely full.
Hydration Integration A dedicated internal sleeve supports compatible hydration systems during long-distance travel.

Summit Backpack or Tactical Assault Pack?

Choose the Summit

Recommended when low empty weight, outdoor comfort, adjustable capacity and long-distance movement are the main priorities.

  • 42-litre outdoor capacity
  • Approximately 1.18 kg empty
  • Adjustable rolltop construction
  • Ventilated trekking-style harness
  • External helmet or jacket carriage
  • Optimized for hiking and climbing

Choose a Tactical Pack

A conventional tactical backpack may be preferable when extensive internal compartments, full exterior MOLLE coverage or rapid clamshell access are more important than low weight.

  • More fixed internal organization
  • Greater pouch-mounting area
  • Clamshell opening on selected models
  • Heavier structural construction
  • Designed around tactical equipment
  • Less adjustable main capacity
