Level IV.
A defined test threat.
The reference ballistic model is actively listed on the NIJ Compliant Products List at Level IV under NIJ 0101.06, in a stand-alone, single-curve configuration. Its stated test threat is .30 caliber 166 gr M2 AP.
| Level | Test projectile | Bullet mass | Reference velocity |
|---|---|---|---|
| IV | .30 CAL · M2 AP | 166 gr | 2,880 ft/s · 877.8 m/s |
Estimated ballistic limit reported in the technical sheet for .30 caliber 166 gr M2 AP. This is not a guaranteed stopping velocity and is separate from the Level IV reference velocity.
The NIJ reference applies to the identified ballistic model. Exact model correspondence and the supplied configuration are documented for procurement. The listed Level IV test configuration uses one M2 AP shot per plate for the penetration / backface-signature test; additional impacts require separate supporting test data.

What does Level IV refer to?
NIJ 0101.06 Level IV uses the .30 caliber M2 AP armor-piercing test threat. The stated performance applies to a defined model and test protocol. It is not a blanket claim for every rifle round or repeated impacts.
Which weight applies to the plate offered?
The technical sheet specifies 6.17 lb (2.8 kg) per 10 × 12 in shooter-cut plate and 6.39 lb (2.9 kg) for the full-cut version. The offer will identify the selected cut and confirm the supplied configuration.
Does the V50 value mean a guaranteed stop?
No. The sheet identifies the V50 as an estimate for .30 caliber 166 gr M2 AP. V50 is a ballistic-limit estimate associated with a 50% probability of complete penetration under the test conditions. It is not the Level IV certification velocity or a guaranteed non-penetration speed.
Can I use the plate with a QRS carrier?
The QRS accepts nominal 10 × 12 in hard plates. Confirm the actual plate dimensions, thickness and fit for your configuration. The optional Tatou Armor Shim set helps take up excess space for a 10 × 12 setup.
Can qualified buyers obtain the compliance file?
Yes. Include your agency, professional email, quantities, carrier and tender reference in the RFQ. The exact model designation, applicable compliance documentation, configuration and written warranty terms are provided for procurement review.
