NORTENT HUNTING & REMOTE BASECAMP SHELTERS
Stove-ready, four-season shelters built for hunters, anglers, outfitters, wildlife biologists, park teams and remote field crews who need more than a place to sleep. NORTENT creates strong, livable wilderness tents for cold weather, heavy equipment, extended stays and severe conditions.
Built for People Who Work and Live Beyond the Road
NORTENT shelters are especially valuable when camp is part of the operation: a place to warm up, organize equipment, cook, dry clothing, sleep, plan the next movement and protect personnel from changing weather.
A Heated Camp for Long Hunts
Build a durable base for cold-season hunting, gear storage, wet clothing, optics, food preparation and overnight recovery far from permanent infrastructure.
Weather Protection Near Water
Create a dry, heated shelter for remote fishing trips, ice-fishing support, shoreline camps and multi-day operations where clothing and equipment must be dried repeatedly.
A Premium Client Basecamp
Offer guests more usable space, standing room, stove heat and a stronger four-season shelter than a conventional lightweight camping tent.
Field Research and Observation
Protect sampling equipment, batteries, notebooks, optics and personnel during remote surveys, wildlife monitoring and seasonal research programs.
Remote Operational Shelter
Suitable for field teams, temporary work sites, warming areas, trail projects, wildlife management, patrol support and remote equipment staging.
A Mobile Cabin in the Wild
Support forestry, environmental, SAR, expedition and northern work crews that require a stable and habitable four-season basecamp.
Choose Your NORTENT Basecamp
The Gamme series provides strong, circular hunting and expedition shelters in six- and eight-person formats. Mjodhall 16 expands the concept into a large team basecamp with four entrances and room for personnel, equipment and work zones.
Polycotton Comfort
Gamme 6 PC
Six-person polycotton hunting shelter
The compact Gamme choice for hunters and small field teams who prioritize a warmer-feeling, breathable interior and minimal condensation during longer camps.

A significantly lighter Gamme platform for mobile hunters, biologists and expedition teams who must move the shelter farther by foot, sled, ATV or boat.
Hunter Favourite
Gamme 8 PC
Eight-person polycotton basecamp
Exceptional for serious hunters, outfitters and gear-heavy camps: standing room, stove heat, two entrances and a breathable interior designed for extended wilderness living.
Gamme 8 Nylon
Eight-person nylon expedition tent
Keeps the full Gamme 8 living space while reducing transport weight—ideal for remote camps moved by snowmobile, boat, ATV, helicopter or a distributed team load.
Mjodhall 16
Sixteen-person four-season basecamp
A large “cabin in the wild” for outfitters, research teams, park crews and multi-person hunting camps requiring four entrances, stove capability and significant internal working space.
A Real Basecamp — Not Just a Sleeping Tent
The Gamme’s dome-like pole geometry creates a freestanding shelter with useful standing height, strong wind resistance and room to separate sleeping, stove, cooking and equipment zones.
For hunting camps, this changes the entire experience. Wet clothing can be dried, optics and firearms can be kept away from sleeping areas, boots can be managed near the floor opening, and the camp can remain functional during long periods of bad weather.
- Two entrances for camp flow and ventilation
- Five-pole freestanding structure
- Stove-ready design
- Multiple high and low air vents
- Storm flaps for snow, sand or stone anchoring
- Space for cots, packs and hunting equipment
- Optional inner tents and organizers
- Four-season hunting and expedition use

Polycotton or Nylon: Which NORTENT Is Right for You?
Both materials support serious four-season use, but they solve different field problems. Choose based on how far the shelter must travel, how long the camp remains in place and how important interior climate is to your operation.
Polycotton — Best for Comfort and Long Camps
NORTENT PC fabric combines 35% cotton with 65% polyester. The cotton component allows humid interior air to pass through the fabric more effectively than a non-breathable synthetic flysheet, while the polyester improves strength, ripstop performance and packability compared with traditional all-cotton canvas.
- Breathable interior with very low condensation
- Drier and warmer-feeling indoor climate
- Excellent for stove-heated camps
- Better suited to long stays in one location
- Ideal for outfitters and premium hunting camps
- Heavier and bulkier than the nylon version
- Oxford nylon lower section resists ground-level wear
- Included floor supports clean and wet-gear zones
ARCX-N700 Nylon — Best for Mobility
NORTENT’s ARCX-N700 flysheet uses strong ripstop nylon with silicone coating on both sides. It provides a major weight advantage when the shelter must travel farther or when a large tent must be divided between several team members.
- Lower weight and smaller packed volume
- Strong ripstop construction
- Excellent for snowmobile, boat, ATV and expedition transport
- Appropriate for mobile research and wildlife teams
- Better choice when camp locations change frequently
- Requires more deliberate ventilation management
- Inner tent is valuable for moisture and sleeping-zone control
- Silicone-type seams require proper sealing and maintenance
Gamme in the Field
From exposed rock and high-wind terrain to deep winter camps, the Gamme platform is designed to create a strong and usable shelter in places where conventional recreational tents may become restrictive.
Mjodhall 16: A Wilderness Field Station
Mjodhall 16 is the choice when a camp must support a complete group, not simply several sleepers. Its 700 cm length, four entrances and 239 cm height allow it to function as a heated hunting lodge, outfitter gathering space, wildlife field station, equipment room, briefing area or remote crew shelter.
Eight aluminum poles form a freestanding structure engineered for severe weather and heavy snow load. The tent can be packed in modules so poles, shelter fabric, floor and accessories can be divided among team members or transport systems.
- Capacity for up to 16 people
- Four entrances for flexible camp workflow
- Eight-pole freestanding frame
- Stove-ready layout
- Four-season basecamp capability
- 18 guylines and perimeter storm flaps
- Optional two-part inner-tent system
- Suitable for sleeping, work and gear zones
Heat Changes What a Remote Camp Can Do
A properly configured wood stove can turn a NORTENT shelter into a warm, functional base for hunting, fishing, research and remote work. It supports cooking, water heating, equipment drying and recovery when cold, wind, rain or snow would otherwise reduce the camp’s effectiveness.
NORTENT Model Comparison for Hunters and Field Teams
Select by group size, transport method and expected camp duration—not only the manufacturer’s maximum sleeping capacity. Hunting equipment, cots, wet clothing, stove clearance and food systems all consume usable interior space.

Practical Buying Guidance
For Two to Four Hunters
Gamme 6 provides a strong balance of floor space and transport size. Choose PC for a semi-permanent heated camp or nylon when the tent must be moved regularly.
For Gear-Heavy Hunting Camps
Gamme 8 gives more realistic living space for cots, packs, stove clearance and equipment. The PC version is especially attractive for longer cold-weather stays.
For Outfitters and Clients
Mjodhall 16 creates a more professional camp hub for meals, equipment management, briefings and shelter from bad weather, while smaller tents can remain dedicated sleeping units.
For Wildlife and Research Teams
Nylon models reduce transport weight and support modular field logistics. Mjodhall can serve as a shared laboratory, equipment room or heated work shelter.
For Parks and Remote Work
Select by the number of personnel plus the space required for tools, PPE, samples, electronics and drying. A shelter used as a work site should not be sized only by sleeping capacity.
For Maximum Winter Comfort
Prioritize polycotton, a properly sized stove, floor zoning, robust ventilation and enough interior volume to maintain safe clearances around hot equipment.
Wood-stove operation requires continuous ventilation, safe clearances, a compatible stove jack and adherence to the stove and tent manufacturers’ instructions. Use an appropriate carbon-monoxide alarm. Never leave a stove unattended. Monitor and remove accumulating snow; excessive snow load can damage any tent. Firearms, fuel and combustible equipment must be stored and handled according to applicable laws and safe camp practices.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is polycotton better than nylon for a hunting tent?
Polycotton is usually the better choice for a longer stationary hunting camp because it breathes, reduces condensation and creates a drier, warmer-feeling interior. Nylon is preferable when lower transport weight and smaller packed volume are more important.
Which Gamme model is best for a hunting camp?
Gamme 6 is well suited to smaller teams and more compact logistics. Gamme 8 provides more realistic room for cots, equipment, stove clearance and longer stays. The PC versions prioritize comfort; the nylon versions prioritize mobility.
Can NORTENT shelters be used with a wood stove?
The Gamme and Mjodhall models featured here are designed around stove use. A compatible stove, correct installation, continuous ventilation, safe clearances and strict operating procedures are essential.
Is Mjodhall 16 appropriate for outfitters?
Yes. Its large interior, four entrances, standing height and multi-zone layout make it suitable as a shared outfitter shelter, dining area, heated camp hub, gear room or briefing space.
Are these shelters suitable for wildlife biologists and parks?
They can support remote surveys, seasonal field camps, wildlife monitoring, trail or habitat projects, patrol support and equipment protection. Selection should account for personnel, tools, electronics, samples and the required work space.
Does the stated capacity include hunting equipment?
Manufacturer capacity is a maximum sleeping reference. Cots, packs, stove clearance, food systems, wet clothing and hunting equipment reduce practical occupancy. A larger model is usually preferable for long, gear-heavy camps.
